Kenneth R. Garrett recently completed a 23 year career with FMC Corporation, a global, diversified chemical company with more than 5,700 employees around the world. Garrett retired from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in August 2013. He was responsible for global human resource strategies, policies and procedures and HR operations. Garrett joined FMC in 1990 as Manager of Human Resources Planning and Development in Minneapolis. In 1992, he was named Director of Human Resources for the Naval Systems Division. In 1995 he was appointed Corporate Director Human Resources in Chicago. Early in 2001, he was named Chief Human Resources Officer for the FMC chemical businesses headquartered in Philadelphia and was later elected Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Communications. Prior to joining FMC, Garrett worked for Trans World Airlines in New York and Kansas City, where he held management positions in finance and human resources.
Since moving to Philadelphia, Garrett has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including Philadelphia Futures and the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and was recently named to the Board of Trustees of Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO.
Garrett received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City where he studied sociology and economics. He earned his M.B.A. from Rockhurst University.
